The President of the Slovak Republic awarded state honors
On January 10, 2026, in Bratislava, Slovak President Peter Pellegrini awarded state honors to 22 personalities from the cultural, scientific, sporting, and other sectors of social life. The head of state presented the highest state honors on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the founding of the Slovak Republic. The awards were given to academicians from the Learned Society Slovakia
- Juraj Payer, physician, dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Comenius University in Bratislava – Order of Ľudovít Štúr, 1st class, civilian, for exceptional contributions to the development of the Slovak Republic in the field of science and technology
- Ján Tkáč, scientist – Order of Ľudovít Štúr, 2nd class, civilian category, for outstanding contributions to the development of the Slovak Republic in the field of science and technology, particularly in the field of nanobiotechnology, as well as for promoting the good name of the Slovak Republic abroad
- Jozef Živčák, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Košice – Order of Ľudovít Štúr, 1st class, civilian category, for outstanding contributions to the development of the Slovak Republic in the field of science and technology, particularly in the field of biomedical engineering, as well as for outstanding promotion of the good name of the Slovak Republic abroad
